Staying Fit at the Crossroads

Thank goodness for some cool weather, as now, I can get on my walking shoes and do some traveling around the neighborhood. Have not strolled since last May as it has been too damned hot and humid. Although, I did manage to play l8 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Got to admit, the weekends at Daytona and on occasion to the Destin area, did not do my waistline too much good. So, I am determined to get back into the swing of things, as, afterall, I am in my late 60's and at the crossroads. What crossroads do I refer to? The fork in the road to saying, to hell with it, or the road that says, Yes, you can. Well, I must admit, I'd rather say to hell with it. Howver, the vanity in me says to give it one more try, as, afterall, life is good and the alternative is not.
So, off I went today and met right off the bat, my neighbor walking her dog. She looked pretty good and I must admit, the braless look for walkers does wonders for the heart. Further along, I met my old neighborhood cronie, Lennie, who asked where in the hell I'd been. He has not seen me since last May and was all pissed off that I had not stopped by and said hello. He proceded to inform me that he had not 1, but 2 heart attacks since we last spoke. He was still puffing away as we spoke and explained to me just how bad he has been and his current prognosis.
Got to see many squirrels, birds, wistfull clouds along the way and when I got home, I thought, yes, it is worth it to keep on walking. So the time on the wall, and realized that it was cocktail time, so, we proceded out to our deck, overlooking the lake, as hada snack with our very dry martinis and enjoyed the sun going down. Figured that the calories I lost while walking, I just put back on and then some. But, what the hell, the crossroads of life do take into consideration the finer thi ngs in life. So, the crossroads have been met, and the path that I have chosen is one of moderation. Walk slow and drink fast!!
