Wish that I could have seen all of the former "British" Open, that now is referred to only as the "Open". Guess that the U.S.Open got to them Brits and to show us all as to who is the better, what better way than to refer to your tournament as. simply, The Open, as in British, but for get the British and please refer to me now as, simply, the Open.
Been traveling a lot lately and did not get to see what Watson did, other than to catch the l8th hole after his second shot. Would have made for a great, great story, but, alas, the man who won 5 previous British Opens, could not win the "Open". So, who really cares who won the "Open". Well, the man name Cink does and he is a recognizable chap and good for him. However, the "Open" is a new event and should be viewed as such as the British Open used to be a tournament that had tradition with a long history of weather increments that affected the outcome of the game.
So, the British Open is now closed and we now will have the newest major, commonly called the "Open". Tally Ho and Ta Ta to all ye Brits that for over a hundred years had "The British Open" and now, simply, the "Open". The "Open" is now closed to its past history and tradition.
