A few weeks ago, my matey, Jan, and I had the pleasure to spend a week with our friends, from No Georgia, in their Motor Home at a campsite called, Camping on the Gulf, and it is, on the Gulf. The weather turned out to be perfect and we all enjoyed out time there. After 2-3 days of beaching it, pooling and spaing it, we went to a complex called Harbor Walk. IIt is going west from the campground which is on hwy 98. This complex is something else, stores, restaurants for all, AND, a fleet of boats. The "Swoop" was reccomended to us by friends and we booked a fare, 8 hours worth for the unbelievable price of $75.00 each. This is a drift boat and none of us were to keen about 35 to 40 people with lines going out. However, the crew was excellent and whenever a tangle or backlast occured, they were right there for you. The captain took us out to 3 or 4 different holes, and we bottom fished and pulled them in left and right. Lot of Vermillion Snapper and Blue Bullit were caught and a good ti me was had by all.
Once back to the campground, an evening of good food, good booze and good company ensued. We normally have a menue that consists of Rib Eyes, Mexi can specialty, seafood speacialy(Oysters, Calalmari,Shrimp)Polish delectibles, and then some left overs one night. Our breakfasts normally consists of coffee, bloody mary, and then bacon, eggs, sausages, biscuits, bagels, muffins or whatever.
We also spent a day in Pensacola for their Seafood Festival, which was good, but the weather was too darned hot to really enjoy. So, we headed to JoePatties Seafood market to pick up some delicacies that we had not caught.
If you get the chance, spend a week or more in this area after Labor Day as the crowds are non existent.
