I never thought about it until an adult on an inpatient psych. ward shared that it is very difficult for a delusional/hallucinating person who is actively psychotic to decipher if a "page" is GOD, another voice, or something else.....
Every time the intercom would page a Doctor, I would tell them that I heard that too, and it was a page for the Doctor. Most of them would smile. I think they thought I was crazy too!! But I had the keys!!
