I remember the summer I detailed to BSTF. It was the year of two fallen Brothers......
Things can go down so quickly.....in a NY minute.
BSTF was one of the task forces set up to increase patrol numbers in certain problematic areas.
On a hot summer night the task force would turn out lights and sirens to the area, clamming it back for the families that wanted to sit out in peace...walk to the corner bodega w/out their children being exposed to the crack heads and skells and drug dealers fighting for turf....it was a night one of us did not come back to the house at the end of tour.....
Eddie died in the back of our RMP (patrol car)that dark hot night.
Eddie was a fun loving guy, he took the job VERY seriously
He would never give up a street corner....He died as he lived.....
How quickly things can change...it was hard to believe that a life means so little to some....all for a corner...the neighbor hood never forgot PO Eddie....a street and school now bear his name. We his partners kept that as our own...we played basket ball and tutored the kids at HIS school, all for his memory and honour ...Hey Eddie....kings county! Here's to you Partner
