Family Court

Please be patient with my story....

sitting in the hallway waiting to be called into the court room.

The day already feels log after the six hour drive.

There is so much that just isn't right about this.

How was he born this far away, removed from the custody of his mom, moved up 'north' placed w/ extended family, beat nearly to death and still his legal case is all the way down here?

Judicial Jurisdiction is usually in the place of the crime...Oh yeah I forgot there was no crime...It is OK to murder your wife, beat infants and whatever you want in Will county Illinois! I believe the county considers them victimlesss crimes..

so this is not too long a post, I will describe the police investigation of this 9 month old victim who was severely assaulted( fractures of his leg skull and multiple bruises about his body in various stages of healing) in another post..

Back to the court room....

Hallway waiting...We made this trip and this wait several times, even bringing our then foster son so he could meet his GAL(attny. appointed by the court to represent the minors best intrest)
We sat in that hallway thru lunch until the last case was called time after time...finally a clerck would let us know our sons case was reschedualed...the court appointed GAL never even came to meet our son....Time for the long drive back 'north'

Never was the family who so severly abused him , and claimed so that they wanted to raise him there...some intrest huh?

The Phone Call......

One evening while preparing dinner for my sons, and singing Barney songs I recieved a phone call. It was from Timothy D(I will leave out the last name) My sons GAL....imagin that a year had come and gone...My foster son had been through many doctors appointments, hospital visits, speech, pysical and OT sessions...and now this court appointed GAL calls to let me know that he is proceeding with a best intrest hearing in Madison county and I should not think that because my son has lived with me for a year that he would be reccomending that he stay in our home. The GAL did admit that in a year he has never met, or talked to my family, my son, or any of the professionals treating him. He has spoken to the family that had been indicated of abusing this child....

As the conversation ended and I hung up the phone I relized that this was about my lifestyle, and I vowed to fight and not let my son suffer. How could he be returned to family that nearly murdered him? Is my life style that bad? Do people hate me so much that they would sacrific an innocent child?

To continued...........

This is absolutely outrageous that they make you go through this ordeal. Anyone with any brains could see that the child is safe, secure, loved, and MUST be left with his parents, you! He cannot go back. It would be unfair and cruel.

Only a strong person could endure this fight--obviously you and your partner are strong and your son will/can only benefit from this.
And, yes, though you don't need to hear the answer, people do hate that much that they would sacrifice a child's well being--and, I hope, that Timothy D is not involved with the fate of children anymore.

this makes me so mad, what the courts put you through. obviously you love the children and wanted to give them a better life. but because of your lifestyle they thought you were not the best person to raise them! oh yes, send them back to be abused, that would have been much better! grrrrr!
thank you for sharing this.

The child is the one that would pay for the mistake that the court would make. Bless your heart. You love your kids and that is obvious, when there are so many parents out there who don't love their children. Shame on them for considering this. Hearing your heart I know you are a good person and I'm going to pray that your son does not go back to that horrible situation.
