A Tree Grows in Brooklyn ... .Make That Queens
I don't know about you but my wife and I are nuts when it comes to our two new trees in our backyard . We both love fruit and can't get enough of in season oranges, pears, apples, grapes, blueberries, etc...you name it. .........So....it came as no surprise when my wife decided to order two watermelon trees shipped to our house early this spring from the orchards of Florida's famous "Watermelon Grove"
Our watermelon trees belong to a family called Curcurbitacae maximus and we are already reaping ripe rewarding results after its blossoming 2-3 months here in our backyard. We make sure to water our watermelon trees every day as recommended and make sure our watermelons are at least 3 feet between them on the branches they grow .......We use a special loam infused pickled nutrient rich jelly at the base of the tree that helps repel parasites like watermelon weevils or arboreal fruit flies.
These great tasting watermelons, some the size of distended basketballs, provide us with vitamin "C",beta carotene, lycopene, and other antioxidants with no fat or cholesterol. Our daughter is just as nuts about our backyard trees as we are. "The watermelon doesn't fall far from the tree". But if it falls on your head, you'd better be checked for a concussion.
