Courage My Love!!

very interesting thread! There is a glimmer in the darkness of the great American "world view". Americans are a lot like puppies, good, happy, respond well to love, are puzzled when some one hits them with a newspaper but they still continue to pee on the floor! This goes back to the source of 911, American Foreign Policy. You think you are out there doing "good" in the world, but continually ignore the most basic of cultural differences. I think ignorance is a basic trait of the average American, they know little of their own country, and far less about others. That said, at least you are willing to engage in a conversation that is not draped in blind patriotism and swathed in christian pedantic drivel.

And as for socialized medicine, hell - do not knock what you have not tried. I won't lose my house over a heart attack, I can go to any doctor or hospital I like and I will never be denied care based on my bank balance. I just wish we had socialized dentistry as well.

Well hell - you wouldn't expect them to take a taxi would you? Downtown Bagdad is roughly equivalent to downtown Detroit and any hooker in her right mind calls an armoured vehicle for house calls (this is what I am guessing folks, not from any real first hand experience)

okay here's a real funny (not). out and about tonight and go by our local gas station (a Mohawk station) and there up on the sign it says "Gas - 927.60 a litre for regular" WHAT! Right now it is $1.30 a liter and by the weekend it will go to $1.35 (that translates at about $5.40 a gallon for you un-metric folks). So maybe that price will be in my lifetime. And the Oil companies announced record profits for the first quarter. Well duh, I guess they did.

That started my day with a smile - never mind top of the food chain - talk about the shallow end of the gene pool! Loved it!
