— When someone wants to stress something, they repeat it several times. When I was little, my parents constantly repeated themselves. They kept on until I finally understood. God uses repetition to teach His children. There are over 300 times in the Bible when He tells us not to be afraid. In fact, that is the most frequent command in the Bible. When Jesus appeared to the disciples after His resurrection, the first thing He told them was not to be afraid.
We live in very scary times. Any minute another war can break out. We do not know what the next minute brings, but we can be comforted that God brings us the minute, not the media! We need to concentrate on His sovereignty and power.
Because God loves us, He does not want us to live in fear and anxiety. Psalm 56:3 says, “When I am afraid, I will trust you.†We can let our fears turn into opportunities to learn to trust God more. Trusting God really is a choice. The more we spend time in God’s Word, the more we know Him. The more we know God, the more we trust Him. He has told us, “Do not fear for I am with you. Do not be afraid for I am your God.†(Isaiah 41:10) That should be enough for us so that we can say “Why worry!â€
