We may say that we know someone because we know about them, but we do not know them personally. Getting personal means more than being an acquaintance. We spend time with that person discovering his likes and dislikes. For example, we know our best friend well enough to know how to please him.
People say they are a Christian and know Jesus, but may not know Him personally. We Christians learn about His likes and dislikes. After getting to know Him, we discover how much He loves us. We even know how to please our best Friend, who is Jesus.
Sometimes we have overwhelming problems, but because of our personal relationship with Jesus, we choose to totally trust Him. Our problems might be big, but our God is bigger! Trust does not come overnight; it took many years for me to develop such a strong trust.
We can stay one step ahead of our problems if we get personal with Jesus by spending time with Him in prayer and in His Word and remembering that He is with us no matter what.
