Candy, Easter eggs and the Easter Bunny. I remember it like it was yesterday. There were new outfits for the Easter Sunday service and egg hunts with all my brothers, sisters and cousins afterward. What a time for a small child.
The memories are still sweet and we repeated the same things with our children and grandchildren. But we know there's more to Easter than this. So what is the real message of Easter? Romans 5:7-9 goes to the heart of Easter. Who would die in your place? A close friend or relative? Maybe. And even if they did it would only prolong earthly life for a time; but there is no eternal help in it. On the other hand, no one loves us like our God does. We are His workmanship, His children. For that reason, Christ died for all of us ungodly sinners. He knew that without His death and resurrection, we had no hope. So love for us took Jesus to the cross and the grave.
Now we are pardoned by His blood and all our sins are paid for. We will never be asked for further payment. We are made alive in Him who arose from the grave and conquered death. We shall never be condemned.
What is the message of Easter? LOVE, Purest LOVE!
HAPPY EASTER
