“When they saw the star, they rejoiced†Matt. 2:10
When I moved from a busy Chicago suburb to a small, northern Illinois town surrounded by farms, I took notice of the dark, night sky full of bright stars. In the city, with all it’s lights, it was difficult to see the stars at night. Here, nearer the country, the sky is clear and nothing blocks the beauty of the stars.
Each December in the town where I live, the air is cold, the north wind blows, and the ground is covered in a white, snowy blanket. I enjoy going outside for an evening walk. Dressed warmly, walking briskly, and looking upward, I view the beautiful stars above my front walk. Reflecting in quiet prayer, I rejoice! It must be the same feeling of joy the kings felt as they followed the star in search of the Christ child.
Little baby Jesus, gentle and mild. I pause to reflect on your birth long ago, and my heart fills with joy. I want to shout, “Christ is born, rejoice!â€

God’s Goodness
My husband was reading our 2-yr-old granddaughter, Autumn, her favorite book. The story mentioned many animals and frequently asked, “Who made the -----?†Autumn always answered, “Dod did!â€
One night before Christmas, we drove through our local park to view the beautiful Christmas lights. Among the displays were a number of animal outlines covered with lights. Fascinated, Autumn sighed contentedly as she took it in. Then, almost to herself, she said quietly, “You know, Dod sure is nice sometimes.â€
