Cream Brulee Pie

I'm going through a huge recipe collection on 3 by 5 cards. Here are a couple of pies. The first one you could make in custard cups without the pastry crust for cream brulee. The second one is basically a pecan pie without the nuts. It's called molasses pie, but calls for dark corn syrup, which isn't as strong a flavor as molasses has.

Cream Brulee Pie
5 egg yolks
2 cups sugar
2 cups heavy cream
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 - 1 teaspoon vanilla
9 inch unbaked pastry shell
Sugar

Beat the egg yolks until thick and lemon colored. Combine the flour with the sugar and stir it into the egg yolks. Add the cream and vanilla and pour into an unbaked pie shell. Bake about 1 hour at 350 degrees until set almost in the middle. Chill. When ready to serve, sprinkle sugar over the top and brown it with a propane torch or under the broiler.

I have to try this. I guess Ted will let me borrow his propane torch.

I'm going to try it without the crust because I'm saving my frozen pie crusts for company. I need the practice lighting the blow torch, pretty crazy reason for trying a recipe, but you never know when I might have to learn how to repair some plumbing.
