Until we reached this place we had not encounted any large hills, but boy oh boy this was different , seems as though every traffic light was placed on top of a steep clinb, you'de just get moving and a red light would switch at the next intersection.
Not only local traffic but bloody big semi trailers-- B doubles --caravans --all sorts of trucks were vying for space on a single lane through out. Heading east towards Brisbane you drop off the top into 2 lanes --sign says steep descent --change to lower gear --and they weren't kidding --one part was in 2nd gear to save my brakes. I think Cath shut her eyes and said a prayer or two coming down.
The town itself is very clean the overnight park was cheap and well maintained, and we were lucky to be there albeit for one day to see the garden festival highlights, starting with a parade heres some photo's

HAD wondered why so much traffic was coming through the town and why a bypass road was not in place---was informed there was no other way around the city for another 200 km north owing to the great dividing range.
