My first car was a 1927 MORRIS COWLEY –4 cylinder –magneto ignition – crank start- with the ignition settings on the steering wheel base ,,too far advanced and you would break your wrist if she backfired.
Flash parts (laughing) that it also had a hand windscreen wiper ---only brakes were on the rear wheels mechanicaly operated by bands, headlights were amber and no dip switch, so I put a spot light on the side to see where I was going out in the country,
It was 25 years old, cost me 5 weeks wages but I thought and still do it was great, BEWDY I had wheels, it was a coupe originally , but the dickie seat had been replaced by a utiity -(pickup to you) -body, with a full canvas cover , was years ahead of its time in that regard because the first thing done was to put a mattress in the back .
The places and things that car got up to still bring smiles to my face, one father even called it a flying bedstead and wouldn't let me take his daughter out, LITTLE DID HE KNOW .
