Sure, the snow is gone, the creek is running freely and the trees and grass are greening up nicely but the nights are still frickin' cold!
I've cleaned out the woodstove for the season twice now but have been forced to use it again in the late afternoons and evenings and build a fire to ward off the cold and dampness.
I know, I know. I should be thankful that we still have enough kindling and wood to burn and I am.
But, enough is enough already.
I'm leaving for Florida in 3 weeks and sure hope by then that I can put the wood burning and all that goes with it, to bed for a few months.
Take today for instance.
It was absolutely miserable out. It was raining, just like yesterday, cold and damp. I'd give you the temperatures but most reading this gauge their temps in Fahrenheit and I'm too lazy to figure that out from our Celsius - go figure.
Anyway, I had a doctor's appointment just before lunchtime and I bundled up and off I went.
I came home, checked and fed the fire, had lunch then sat down for some quiet time doing crossword puzzles.
This weather really is not conducive to getting chores done!
It makes me feel lazy.
I dozed off for about an hour, woke up covered in sweat, what?
The sun had come out and the temperature had risen by about 20 degrees - on anybody's scale and my livingroom was like a sauna.
It was like waking up on another day - somewhere else!
I was forced to open the sliding door onto the back deck, turn on the overhead fan to allow some of heat from the fireplace to escape.
I stripped off my hoodie and went out onto the deck.
The breeze was tropical, the sun was bright and felt hot on my skin, the birds were singing - it was amazing!
This certainly is the latitude of extreme weather and you'd think after all these years that nothing would surprise me.
Today I got my wish of lot's of sunshine and warm breezes.
I'm leaving in three weeks for Florida again this year.
I'd really like to get a little color on my face and arms before then so I don't show up down there with that fish belly white pallor of a Canadian tourist.
Party on xxx
