Something I snatched off Politics Daily about none other than the Pope:

"But what is clear, whether one reads every word or just excerpts, is that the pope is a liberal, at least in American political terms. He says this is not a document proposing "technical solutions," and stresses the greed and sin at the heart of the current economic crisis. Yet he rigorously and consistently applies the Golden Rule to economics and finance, calling for greater regulation of the markets and -- get this -- "a true world political authority" that can put "real teeth" into international governance."
It looks to me like the Pope has been reading Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 6-8).
Actually, I have read Pope Benedict's book "Jesus of Nazareth" and as one would suspect, He is deeply familiar with the Lord's teaching. And rather than try to explain it away, he thinks we should follow it.
Well I am not comfortable with the man-made terms "Liberal" and "Conservative". But I suspect that if we truly followed these teachings (love God - Love and forgive one another) (which, by the way, are the also basis of all other religions that I know of, Jewish, Islam, Hindu, Buddhist - because there is only one Creator, and He does not tell one group of people one thing and the other another), we really could have not only a just World Government, but actually World Peace.
