I was up at 3 a.m. this morning to go to Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. We left at 4 am!! I love Aylesbury, my cousin Barbara used to live there back in the late '60s, when her husband was a prison officer in the local 'nick'. They would come over and pick us up from Streatham & we often spent weekends at their place.
My mum, who was working for The National Trust at the time, used to have free passes, entitling her to take a family to any, National Trust property. There were one or two properties around the area, so we spent some wonderful hours, just wandering about the ample amount of rooms. I do recall, looking out from one of the windows of the pictured building of Waddeson Manor and, viewing the utterly superb formal gardens - what a view!!! Fantastic.
The 3 pictures consist of two of the house itself and the lady pictured is of one of the people who were extremely, fortunate enough to have lived there - her name was Elisabeth Louise Vigee Le Brun.
These are not photos I took, but 'google images'. Just type in Waddeson Manor into google images and, you can take advantage of the full splendour of the place.
We did drive through the very quaint village of Waddeson - Elizabethan I think, judging by the sytle of the houses in it. Beautiful, anyhow!
The weather was glorious, so we were able to get the very best of the village!
Chris was conducting a 'bit of business' there, so we weren't able to stay for as long as I would have liked, but to be honest, I was 'knackered', anyway! lol
It'll be an early night tonight, for definitely!
I was out in the sunshine earlier this week.
It's good to be outside.
