My mother’s day sort of started last evening ~ that is to say I (literally) had a couple of cans of Carling (darling).
Y’see, Bedrock, Boffin, pip and I decided to have a game of Trivial Pursuit, accompanied by a few drinks as the T.V. programme listings weren’t particularly inviting . . . we stayed up playing until about 1.00am.
I arose this morning at 10.00am .drank coffee on the hoof whilst spud bashing & generally fixing the Sunday lunch (Beef). Normally, I get up, feed the cats and dogs & take my coffee into the living room , switch on the computer, read the news on the MSN home page and just ‘chill’. This morning, however, Bedrock was already on the computer, so I decided to get the lunch started. I certainly did not have a hangover, but everything seemed a bit ‘surreal’ if you know what I mean. Anyway, the boff & pip came downstairs & Boffin handed me an envelope with ‘ To Mum . . .Obviously’ written on it (you have to ‘know’ Boffin, to appreciate hit ‘wit’) ! lol . . . I opened the card, read it and then on the very bottom of it, he had added “Don’t play this too loud . . .” I looked up and he had a the latest UB40 greatest hits c.d.!!!! (YAY) he knew I loved this group! His comment that was put on the card referred to last night while playing Trivial Pursuit. I had to keep on nagging Bedrock playing his Status Quo album way too loudly!!!! Lol
After putting the c.d. into the player, I resumed my original task of peeling the vedge . . . there was a knock at the front door . . . Bedrock answered it and I heard a woman’s voice asking him for “Kathryn” . . . (!) Now, nobody, ever calls me ‘Kathryn’ ~ it is my ‘first’ name, but I have always used my ‘second’ name ~ Jennifer(Jenny), actually. I was stumped at this point , I am only called that name at the doctors etc. I went to the door to see who was asking for me and . . . . . . . . . . .
Lo and Behold . . . A great big Bouquet of flowers greeted me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are bbeeeeeuuuttttiffffuuuuulllllll !!!!!!
Bringing them into the kitchen, I searched for a card.
Lynnette (Lynnie) had sent them!!!!! So, thank you again Lynnette!!! (lots of hearts . . . .)
I have separated them and put them into a pair of vases that Bedrock bought me for a birthday years ago ~ the flowers actually ‘christened’ them, as I have never had any in these before! They now adorn the two corner shelves in the living room, either side of the T.V. set ~ the fragrance from them are delicious (they also ‘mask’ the doggy odours)!!!! Lol !
Not long after the flowers arrived, another knock at the door . . . It was my son John and Pretty-in-Pink! They had bought me a stunning personalised wine glass and Teddy bear and a heart shaped box of Ferrero Rocher!!!! I am well chuffed ~ I had been after a kinda ‘special’ wine glass ever since Pip (2) bought one when her and Boffin were away on a trip somewhere.
Sooo, now I am sitting here, typing and refllecting, on the SMASHING, day I have had . . . .

P.S.
The lunch turned out OK as well!!!! . . . I think I will have a glass of wine (in my glass) put on my head phones to listen to UB40, whilst admiring my flowers . . .
Oh yeah. . . remember that game of Trivial Pursuit we had . . . ? Well, much to Boffins chagrin . . . I WON !
(hee heee heeeee)!!!
