My mother recently fell. I had bought a plane ticket for her to come to see me in Texas but after the fall I raced to Mississippi to stay with her. I stayed for about month until she was able to ride in a car.
We got back to Texas, it was a rough trip for her and a 12 hr drive when you can't walk is Hell. i was able to get Home Health and after a couple of weeks she was asked to go to Warm springs Rehab. a wonderful facility that takes patients with extreme paralysis. She stayed their for about a month and was able to regain some strength this whole experience had been exhausting and fustrating.
Not to mention mom is a retired Nurse... Now you know what I mean......hmmmmm
At the moment, mom is living with me and we were able to rekindle our relationship. to have her around is such a blessing and i would not trade it for anything. What I am trying to say, is before a family decideds to put a parent or Grandmother in a nursing home consider ( if he/she is still in their right mind) just making them comfortable and maybe the empty guest bedroom would not be so bad to have NANA in the house..
ps I have gotten used to changing diapers and it's not all that bad... I prayed to God for another baby.. He gave me one.......My mother.
