Establishing trust helps us form more genuine relationships. Bonding over activities such as sports, clubs, or work is a good way to develop acquaintances that are social and fun. Our more meaningful relationships, however, take much more time to mature. If our interactions are based solely on what we think others expect of us or on the commonplace events of our lives, our relationships will remain on a surface level.
