Al Gore wins Florida and is on his way to becoming the 43 president of the United States…but wait, hold the presses, Jeb promised his brother George he would win Florida “at all costs”…and he did. The exit polling is wrong, not only wrong, way off. The State of Florida has different plans to disenfranchise (58,000 – 54% Black) thousands of legal registered voters. By all accounts Gore won Florida before the Supreme Court put a stop to the recount. An ominous start for George W. Bush who declares “I think the United States must be humble and that he would govern as a “compassionate conservative” be an “a uniter, not a divider.” later we found that the “dick” had other ideas for this ill prepared disinterested President. Dick Cheney did have other plans. He became vice president well before George Bush picked him. And behind him came the Neoconservatives ready to rule the world backed by their “New American Century” foreign policy agenda. They were ready to announce to the world that the United States would become the only world power second to no one. We will listen to no one, we will attack any one, we are friends to no one and we will not allow anyone to challenge us. We declare war…an eternal war.



In August 6, 2001 while vacationing at his ranch, in Crawford, Texas, Bush gets a Daily CIA Briefing memorandum that warns that the al-Qaeda terrorist leader, Osama bin Laden, is “determined to strike in U.S.” After being briefed Bush responds, “All right, you’ve covered your ass now.” Now the fading neoconservatives cry with a whimper, that George Bush has protected us since then instead stating the truth, America was attacked then and because of his lack of interest in doing the real work of the presidency, we lost over 3000 Americans.



That same night, on 9/11, Rumsfeld said, you know, we’ve got to do Iraq, and everyone looked at him—like, what the hell are you talking about? No surprise because the first weeks of the administration they were talking about Iraq. Bodies were still smoldering in the Pentagon and at the World Trade Center and Rummy decides we must do Iraq? As for Karl Rove he didn’t care for the idea of a clarion call to unite the world against terrorism afterward, after all, he only knew how to pit people against each other. Collectively it was decided to scare the hell out of America and they’ll take care of us. They got their Pearl Harbor, and now it was time for the Neoconservative plans, to answer to nobody, rule the world and pillage the Treasury. It began, in 2001 Kellogg, Brown & Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton, where Dick Cheney had been C.E.O., was awarded a 10-year no bid contract to provide the Pentagon with support services for everything from fighting oil-well fires to building military bases to serving meals.



Meanwhile a Gary Berntsen, the C.I.A. intelligence commander was at Tora Bora, and had Bin laden trapped “We knew he was there—he had fallen into the mountains with about a thousand of his followers. That’s why we threw a BLU-82 [the bomb known as a “daisy cutter”] at him. At one point we knew where he was; we allowed food and water to go in to him. And then we came in with a 15,000-pound device. Bin Laden was outside the lethal effects of that blast. I understand he was injured.”



Unfortunately, a decision was made at the White House to use the Pakistani frontier as a blocking force. What the White House didn’t or did understand is that they had cooperated with the Taliban. So they used characters that were sympathetic to the Taliban to set up so called blocking positions and he slipped away forever. Bush flew the Bin Laden extended family out of the country right after the 9/11 attack while every other plane in the country was grounded. He declared he would find Bin Laden, smoke em out of their caves. A few years later he seemed to have lost interest, he declared, he doesn’t even think of him anymore. The man, who is supposed to be responsible for the deaths of over 3000 Americans, isn’t pursued anymore and he doesn’t care. 15 of the 19 Terrorists were from Saudi Arabia where their intelligence community stores Bin Laden screen savers on their computers. He had no interest for the truth and Saudi Arabia wouldn’t even give the CIA his birth certificate. No American intelligence was allowed into Saudi Arabia to interview anyone. Yet Bush now ready to stroll into the sunset and where’s Bin Laden? Remember, the people who killed all of those Americans?



When the bipartisan 9/11 commission which was fiercely opposed by the administration finally issued its report. They determine that many warning signs of an impending attack were ignored. They performed 700 inspections in Iraq and found nothing and Bush decided is was time to quit the inspections of finding nothing and attack. He even proposed that a pretext for war might be provided if an aircraft were painted with U.N. colors and sent in low over Iraq, in the hope that it would draw fire. Condi Rice complained they did know that terrorist may be planning an attack using planes but does nothing and then says, they would have done something if there knew where and when…figure that? The F.B.I. in Minneapolis knew that these guys were in flight-training school and more interested in flying the airplane than they were in taking off and landing. They knew that. Who didn’t know it? Apparently a lot of people knew so much, but did nothing. As one former administration official said, “They didn’t give a shit about al-Qaeda. They had other priorities.”



And so now the self loathing President says good bye in his continued delusional state leaving behind incredible devastation on all fronts. When the ink dries on the final chapter of this administration, it will indeed be written that it indeed was the worst in history that also allowed the deaths of over 3000 Americans and had no interest in bringing to justice those that did it.
