The IOC (International Olympic Committee ) has unanimously decided to add a 4th medal starting in the 2026 winter Olympics . The metal, copper, was chosen because it is highly resistant to corrosion.
No longer associated with just sinks, counter tops, pipes, roofs, cooking utensils, and other uses, the deserving 4th place competitor in future Olympic events can now proudly wear their copper medal along with a lifetime supply of Brillo pads.
