Those tax rebate check will be arriving a little sooner than expected, with checks beginning to going out starting Monday.
President Bush said tax rebates should help Americans cope with rising gasoline and food prices, as well as aid a slumping economy.
"The money is going to help Americans offset the high prices we're seeing at the gas pump, the grocery store, and also give our economy a boost to help us pull out of this economic slowdown," Bush said Friday in remarks on the South Lawn of the White House.
So who gets a payment and how much? Singles filers making less than $75,000 will receive $600; Couples making less than $150,000 will get $1,200; and there is an additional $300 rebates per child. Roughly 130 million households are expected to get rebate checks.
An online calculator is available where people can estimate their tax rebate check based on their 2007 income tax return.

Myth #5: The tax rebate is taxable income and I'll have to pay taxes on it next year.
Fact: The rebate is a rebate. It is not taxable income. You will not have to pay taxes on this money.

76 – 99 (sent to your bank account by May 16)

10 – 18 (sent by check in the mail by May 23)
19 – 25 (sent by check in the mail by May 30)
26 – 38 (sent by check in the mail by June 6)
39 – 51 (sent by check in the mail by June 13)
52 – 63 (sent by check in the mail by June 20)
64 – 75 (sent by check in the mail by June 27)
76 – 87 (sent by check in the mail by July 4)
88 – 99 (sent by check in the mail by July 11)
