When Drinking Controls Your Judgement

When I got home from work last night, I saw two people arrive at our house and my fiancee let them in. As I walked in the door, there were a total of three people in the living room that I did not recognize.

There was Bill, Rob, and NaNa (Rob's wife). I saw a big bottle of Dr. Migillicuddy's alcohol on the living room table and Bill and my fiancee were pretty drunk (my fiancee only drank beer). Bill was the one that brought the bottle over. My fiancee had quit drinking when I got home because he even admitted he had too much to drink.

My son was still up and I was a bit concerned that he could be in that condition while my son is still awake. Anyways, to be social, I opened up a beer, and then got my son to bed. I continued to have two beers for the evening and socialized with NaNa...all the while, I was observing Bill and Rob because they were drinking straight from the bottle. This is gross to me. I don't like drinking from someone else, eating off of other people's plates, or sharing cigarettes with anyone else (You never know where their mouths have been before). Just thinking about it makes me cringe.

NaNa only had one beer because she was the one that was driving her husband home. I applaud her for that.

When everyone was leaving, Bill, believe it or not, marked the bottle to where the alcohol remained in the bottle and left it here at out house! I guess he didn't want open intoxicant in the car?

When everyone was finally gone, I made my opinion of everyone to my fiancee. I told him that I liked Rob and NaNa (even though Rob was drinking straight from the bottle with Bill). However, I said that Bill has a drinking problem. From experience with my ex boyfriend who I was with from 1986-1991....he was an alcoholic. Alot of alcolics have another color to their face and neck area. They turn red...almost as if they are straining to do something. Kind of as if they are lifting something that is too heavy.

Anyways, this morning when my fiancee woke up, I told him that I wasn't mad at him, but I was a bit concerned that he drank that much while my son was awake when I wasn't there. I told him that if an emercency happened or if I had to close the restraunt, I wouldn't be home until almost 10:30 at night and my son would be roaming around the house. He doesn't usually do something like this. He understood and I left it at that. Hopefully, it won't happen again. I doubt that it will though. My fiancee and I have been together since 2000, and we have never had a problem with that before.

Just drink it and add water back up to the mark... I do agree...those tongues get really long when drinking while the lights gout out in the old brain...I have very low tolerance for drunks...very low...

He actually marked the volume? I would have the same concerns with a child at home and you at work.

Maybe it won't happen again, I can see your concerns though, that would worry me if it was to happen frequently. Just put it behind you now. It was probably a one off
