I have been a fan of the Transformer story lines and toys since I was a (relatively) small child. The cartoon was one of the few things that would make me RUN home from school to make sure I didn't miss an episode. So obviously I was giddy as a school girl when the movie came out last year. year.
I used to have all the toys... ALL of them. And like any kid, I played with them till they disintegrated. My Buddy, Big Jeff has a collection of toys in his MAN Basement.
They are not his... they're his wife's. His wife has been keeping these toys since forever, most, if not all are in pristine condition or possibly still MIB (Mint in Box).
I am not making fun of him or her, cuz that is fucking cool. I came over recently and saw Big Jeff built a display case... I retract that. He has built her a SHRINE to Optimus and the heroes of days gone by. It is so cool it causes 3 foot erections in fan-boys.
I have never really thought about how awesome it is to remember when toys were really sweet and adults could trust kids not to choke to death or beat each other with them. Toys today blow.
Someday I'll imagine Big Jeff will have his nephews over during the holidays and they'll be all like, "Can I play with those toys Uncle Jeff?"
And they'll be told they can't cuz they belong to their Aunt and she won't let them out of the case. They'll be sad till something else shiny takes their fancy.
And after they leave, Myself and Big Jeff and anybody else who remembers the awesomeness of those toys will take them out, effect their best imitations and it will begin.
"One shall stand.... One shall fall..."
God I can only hope his wife is asleep when this happens...
I even saved some of the comments from the old post

I have seen this collection. It is one of the greatest things in the universe. Not only is there an Optimus Prime in it, not only are there two of them, but one of them is the huge die cast metal one where you can open his chest and actually see 'The Matrix.' This is the matrix for everyone born BEFORE 1985, you pre-pubescent morons. 'The Matrix' is the heart of the autobots, that only opens and unleashes its power in their darkest hour.
When Optimus Prime died, I know I wasn't the only super geek who nearly cried. I know Big Sexy was right there.
