3 Vs. 5

On a quest to loose "my buddha belly, get mo physically fit". Week 1 of my sorry-ass attempt. Weighed my self, only loss 3 pounds. 1st reaction, damn, only 3 pounds! In my "younger" days, could fluctuate 5# in a day. Upon contemplation, at least i quit gaining, am older - slower metabolism; will still take it as a positive. May have over-reached, can't keep up with the "video" instructor. Am getting winded and pulse races raid...but at least I'm trying. Understand now, just what a life altering event it is. Realizing how chain smoking and binge eating has affected me. Do I give up, hell NO. The "program" I'm doing, is actually for people in better shape than I'm in. Just can't do everything in the video. So I take longer breaks, skip a few types of exercises. After the 1st week, am getting achy muscles, but a good achy...am feeling muscles that have been neglected for too long. At least I'm trying, no matter what will follow the "video" for 30 - 45 minutes, am More aware of what I'm eating, and how I eat (binge eating is what I'm known for)...good tasty food, hell ya, eat all I can! I realize now, that comes from fear of growing up poor - never knew when next big meal would come my way, mixed with depression - eating to feel better. Damn, realize now, just how hard it is to "think" about what and how I eat. So, I may not yet be able to Physically follow the video, but I now have goals and ambitions. May not do it in "90" days, but in 90 days will be better fit to eventually achieve my goals. Already am feeling benefits, just by doing "something", am feeling more ambitious and more active. So, I'll gladly accept a 3# weight loss, given my protein powder mix (damn, look at the calories in that!), almost seems I'm eating MORE now! Guess that video is burning lots of calories (and building muscle wt - muscle heavier than fat). Just wish I could drop 5 pounds as quickly as i used to be able to do! Funny, but after this morn. wrk-out, saw my pumped up bi-ceps, hell ya - I got some impressive muscles under my fat! If only I could get that on my abdomen! Only time and determination will tell.
