House or Home

David Gray, "Fugitive"

House or Home

The years go by
The winds of time do sail by
In '98, a contract made
'Tween a Mormon and a Catholic
Contracts and lawyers
For a land in Deed
In Faith, Good intentions
To pass the land, to FAMILY indeed,
Move in, 4 generations
Every corner used
To house the generations
Till, strained, generations rift
Adolescence, arguements, and the aged
Failed to meet the middle ground
Failed to meet the family bond
A referee scorned, compromises scorned
Windows shatter, Drywall breaks
In the family battles, bonds did break
Generations, in battle, divided
Yet, no one conquered in the division
Perhaps, all but 1 lost faith in family visions
Ridiculed, persecuted, 1 retained a family vision
To maintain this house of wood
and repair the damages of time
To build a homeland
For generations to return to
And if I'm honest, not sure what love is
But, family 1st, concept I can't run from
Overlook the hateful, angry outbursts
In time, the stress subsides
In time the family returns to the fold
To again make this house
The Home intended to be
In times of doubt, come home
In times of joy, come home
Just Come Home,
Home to the battle weary house,
Home to the beloved muts shedding hair,
Home to , now, 4 generations
Home to my own obsession
To make this simple wood house a Home
A "stable" place to call home
When in need, come Home
A home to argue, on neutral ground
One's place in this multi-mixed family
Just come home
Home to this simple wood house
Where homeland actions will decide
1's intent 2 be, a part of this willfull family
Based upon the ridiculed referee's faith
In my own homeland,
Family advise, freely said
From the referee scorned,
Intent accepted,
Mis-steps forgiven,
Just come home
To this old wood house
To where the "family values" r adjusted anew
Not unknown, to generations B4
A house of walls,
Easily destroyed.
A home, of family faith
Will withstand the temporary battle.
Home, the land to return to
2 B heard and accepted.
House, a physical structure
In anger, destroyed, mutilated.
But, a home is a place
Unconditionally accepted,
In times of need to return to!
All I ask...
Is that U give the scorned referee
His due in maintaining
A HOME to come to!
