Well, we made it up to midnight last night and that Kid Garza is a beast and will probably be their best pitcher in the not too distant future.
The Rays have shown a smooth transition from a g roup of young and untested players to a group of players that have each others back. It all starts with Madden and his staff. I am a big Red Sox fan and am also a big fan of the Rays. I wanted to see the Sox get their 3rd title in 5 years, but they have their worked cut out for them. We saw the game at the Trop[ when Beckett was on the mound and lost 2-1. A great ball game with tremendous defense and timely hitting.
Newman was one of the gifted people who not only shared his wealth, but brought sunshine into many of our lives.
I can remember many a cool night back at Bates College in Lewiston Maine when visiting one of our profs we would be served a hot cup of apple cider and a frest made donut. Talk about goooood!,
Tony will show more of his temperment next year as being an owner and shelling out the bucks makes one think a little different and may just affect his loud, but not eloquent mouth.
I liked the National League pick, but what did Lee come back from? Mussina at least was a proven pitcher in the past and I would have liked to see him get the award. Oh well, thats just another humble opinion from the Professor.
I like weed as well, Prefer mine with a Vodka chaser.
The reason for all this touching is that they have a touch screen computer in their jocks that will allow them to receive signals from the catcher that is decoded into a fastball, slider, curve, etc.
Ruth was the first to make a $100M? That was a lot of money back then. Thanks for the info.
Alas, us old men remember when 100,000 was the salary that was outragous. Old Ted Williams broke the barrier first, I believe, but am not sure as this older brain is not what it once was. But, I still do enjoy a good ball game and enjoyed what I saw of last nights all-star game.
My back is killing me and I think I have a broken bone in my right hand. But, this does not deter me from the great American game of golf. Soo. on the first hole, a par 3, l75 yards with sand and water abounding the hole, I drive an eight iron to the edge of the green and ir rolls and rolls towards the cup. Gadzooks, says I. It is the greatest moment of my golfing life. You guessed it, missed the damn hole by an inch, goes bye at least 5 feet, and you guessed it, I missed the damn put. So, I can say that my credo is intact. 3 putt as I ended up with a SOB 4.
Jondude, what about that kid from Texas, Hamilton? Having a pretty good year.
Golf is one of the better games, provided that you do not take yourself too serious. I mean, not many of us hackers can do what the pros do, and we hackers do not put in the practice rounds that the pros do. So, enjoy the game and the outdoors and the many friendships that you will make provided that you enjoy and not destroy the game.
Being from Florida, we have year round pool weather, however, you point is well taken. The families used to get together at the poolside at the in-laws and the burgers and dogs were just delicious and the beans and potato salad were a must. The beer was cold and the water was wonderfullly refreshing on those hot, hot, and humid summer days.
Best to Martin. Know that he is concerned with the ;procedure, however, believe that he has the right frame of mind to come out of this a much healthier person.
