My sister and her husband went to Hawaii and they left their dog with my mum. Today I took the dog for a walk for about half an hour. It's a really old dog so we didn't go far and we travelled slowly. I took in details that I wouldn't normally have noticed.
One interesting thing was a house on my mum's block. It was small and looked abandoned. I thought "There's a crappy little house." There were notices posted in the windows. I went closer to check it out. The notices declared that the house had been reposessed due to failure to pay. No tresspassing etc.... Of course I looked in the windows. A sad little house. There was a pile of junk in the carport: a rusty, partially dismantled electric wheelchair, a kid's bike, some pots, a piece of furniture, a spare wheel and other bric-a-brac. It looked as if someone had moved out in a hurry and never came back for the last load. Kind of sad. It strongly echoed the pathetic scenes of abandoned homes in the States. Through the carport, there was a gate leading to a substantial backyard with great old trees. It, too, had a neglected look about it with children's toys half-buried by unmown grass.
Here in my town, this crappy little house won't sit empty and crappy for long.
