It seems as if every time I write here it's because of a disaster. We've had nothing but the railroad disaster on the news for several days now. There are too many who lost their lives, too many who lost loved ones. They're doing many interviews with the people who lost friends and relatives now. At the moment, they're interviewing the parents of a law enforcement officer.

Too bad that they also say that the driver was so friendly with kids along the way that he was texting them about a minute before the crash. That may be the reason that he didn't see the red light. In my mind, there may not have been a red light. The infrastructure is so devastated. Things that need checking aren't always checked. It probably happened the way they say, but I hate to place blame on a man who lived his life well. Well, who knows. Bad judgment has no monopoly on just the questionable people. Sometimes good people can exercise bad judgment.

Speaking of not having money at the state level, our state is very late in OK-ing a budget. Schools have been on edge and hurting. They haven't been able to hire the teachers needed. I guess they'll be voting on it today. Seems like an okay compromise to me.

Hoping things get better... The fall of Wall Street following the failure of Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers is a huge worry. Can things get worse?
