New Fitness Routines

This is one of my daily 'pimped' Physiotherapy routines. Part of the A.S disease messes up your Balance . I'm always loosing my footing or my hips don't co-opperate with my spine. The trick to keep your spine from being permanently fused is to try and keep it mobile as much as humanly possible, yet at the same time trying not to fracture those bones with high impact exercise. Physio wants me to work on Balance and movement so I bought the Jogging Trampoline last week. It deflects enough energy to spare your joints from painful impacts from fast pace walking/jogging (on a good day) while at the same time working on the balance. The pimped part was added by the hand weights. Ankylosing Spondylitis affects all your joints in one way or another including your hands as I've written about in a previous post. When it's not blowing them up or emitting debilitating pain it causes chronic weakness where I can't even pick up a cup of tea because I can't grip it. I use the weights when my hands seem good - to build some strength up in them and my arms. Sometimes I pay dearly for the effort but it dont last long maybe a few days and then the flare passes again; that's the nature of the disease. The Biologics medicine doesn't cure the diaease, it just slows it down. *I need to stop reminding myself of that because that truth just depresses me!* I managed 5 minutes jogging on it just now just as my lungs felt like they were going to blow up all my ribs! (That'll be the Costochrondritis protesting!) I'll try again now after I posted this post and keep at it. If it don't help my body at least it helps my mind. ~

I just read about this condition in NYtimes, it sounds very hard! Also just found out recently what Costochondritis was. I hope your doggedness in maintaining your health doesn’t fail you. After injuring my back from what should have been some simple exercises, I’m looking at that mini trampoline and thinking hard about what I can do next now it’s mostly healed.
Oh, and if you want your paragraphs back, just type and save your post, then go BACK to the edit page, and save it again. The paragraphs should reappear.
