This week is a BIG week in our House and Club. My youngest son aged 18 is grading for his black Belt this weekend. He has been on the Martial Arts circuit since he was born. DH is the karate Instructor for our club so my son has been literally raised in the business. My son will be the 4th of my children to reach Dan grade, took him long enough too.
He started when he was 5yrs old and has trained at least 5 days a week since. He should have graded for his Blackbelt 5 years ago but DS fractured his pelvis and missed a whole year of Training. When he got back up to speed and applied again, Covid hit and shut the clubs down for 18 months! My son was beginning to feel cursed, he feels like it's not meant to be.
Today we're putting the final touches on the weekends event and I am sweating with worry and anxiety too. Don't need Mark Drakeford closing the country down again before Saturday. He can do what the hell he wants on Sunday, but nothing before Saturday.
My son is crapping himself too - to say the least, he's also quiet, head down and quite focused. I got him a nice surprise, I bought him a Pure Silk Black Belt, not the usual run of the mill cotton belts (although the cotton ones do stayed tied better) but a Silk one is special and he will have earned it. It's been hidden here in plain site all week and he hasn't even frikken noticed it yet - that's how distracted he is ha! Well back to the grind, i'll let you know how he gets on.
