Trusting God's Word

Date: Monday, July 28, 2014
Today's Chapters: Isaiah 29-31
Message Title: Trusting God's Word

The Bible, to many it is just some fictional book, to the saved soul, who loves God, it is the very breath of God in every word. It is not for us to question why God chose to put these exact people and events in His Word, nor how He chose to judge the people and nations as He did and still does. It is for us to understand the Gospel, how it is the theme of the entire book, and that God will reveal His mysteries to His people. “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.” - 1 Corinthians 4:1-5.

God designed the Bible in a way that no ordinary person will be able to discern it, He blinds those who mock and discredit it of understanding what it is all about. Scholars and preachers alike read the Word of God and have no clue what they are talking about, because thy are not saved, they have been distorting and corrupt it since it came into existence and still do today. “For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness. The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.” - Isaiah 29:10-13,18,19.

God will not reveal His truths to anyone who will not believe every Word He has to tell us. Modern versions of the Bible are not the Bible at all, but books of what others have said that the King James Bible says. Those who want to know God must come to Him believing that every word is important. “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” - Proverbs 30:5,6.

Rebellion is probably the biggest culprit of people either ignoring the Word of God completely or changing it to suit their lifestyle. God reminds Israel of their rebellion, but also of His mercy toward them. “Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.” - Isaiah 30:8-11,18,19.

Many people get saved, but never go beyond that, they live sinful lives, and have no idea that God literally hates what they are doing. Thank God for His mercy and grace that He will not cast anyone out who believes in His Son, even if they are rebellious. They will face judgment while here on earth, but in the end, God will hear them and give them peace from their tribulation. “Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.” - Romans 2:9-11.

Another problem people have with the Word of God, they do not trust that it is God who wrote it. He may have not written every word with a pen, but He did have men, many men write His Words down for Him. Trusting God's Word is the key to trusting God Himself, it is the only thing we have that shows us the mysteries of God. It is His Word that we need to be getting into the find the answers to our problems, but more often than not, we are trusting in others rather than God. After all Israel went through to be free from Egypt, they chose their help instead of God's. God blasts them for trusting them over Him, but also gives them a glimpse of hope that He will save them. “Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof. As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it. Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.” - Isaiah 31:1,4-6.

God warned Israel time and time again not to align themselves with the enemy, yet they rarely heeded the warning, often becoming slaves to those who refused to listen, even those professing their faith in God suffered because they were living amongst them. There is no escaping the judgments of God, but as birds protect their young by hovering over them when danger comes, God protects His children, even if they have gotten away from Him. The truth is, no amount of good saves us from the judgment we face, it is only by trusting Jesus Christ as our Savior that we are saved or rather made to suffer only for a little while. “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” - Hebrews 10:36-39.

Today's Prayer: God, I know that Jesus will return and while I know I am saved only because I am trusting in my salvation through Your Son, I do not want to take advantage of that gift. I know that as long as I have Your Son with me I will be strong enough to handle all the judgments you place upon my nation. Lord, lead me and guide me, help me to endure affliction, to always look to You, and seek the peace, comfort, and hope that only You can provide. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
