Today's Chapters: Isaiah 32-35
Message Title: Safe With Jesus
Have you ever been lost? No matter who you are or what age you are, it can be pretty scary, especially if you end up somewhere unsafe. You search and search for something familiar, and what a relief it is when you find your way. A lost soul is the same way, it is constantly searching to find a place where it can be safe, sometimes it finds temporary relief, but before long it is our searching once again. There is only one place that a lost soul can find relief, and that is in Jesus Christ, and until we find Jesus we will never be safe. “Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.†- Hebrews 6:17-20.
There is one culprit that will do anything to stop us from getting the truth out to the lost, the devil, and he is very good at it. However, through the power of Christ in us who are saved, we can find some lost souls. When we are in search of lost souls, a boldness comes about us like never before. It is only by His strength that we can even get the courage and willingness to go out into the world and give hope to those who are lost. One day, Jesus will reign, but until then it is up to us to find them. “Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment. And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken. The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.†- Isaiah 32:1-4.
Our great rock in a weary land, Jesus came here for one reason only, to be the redemption of man for all who believe in Him. Those who believe in and follow Him are lead by Christ to tell the world of Him, and bring them to safety, sadly, very few seek hearken unto Him. “Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.†- Matthew 20:15,16.
Jesus does not just save us from hell, He saves us from our sin, He literally changes our lives to remove all the horrible things of our past, yet gives us hope for the future, and He never leaves us, no matter how many stupid things we do. We may fall from Christ, but Christ never falls from us, He is always there to heal us when we call His name. Through Isaiah, we are given a glimpse of His reign. “Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself. Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you. And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire. Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might. For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us. Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey. And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.†- Isaiah 33:10-13,22-24.
When asked by the self righteous, know it alls why Jesus ate with sinners, Jesus said one thing, I am here to heal the sick. Jesus truly is the physician for our soul, and the amazing thing is that once we seek His healing for our soul, He heals the rest of our body as well. “But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.†- Luke 5:30-32.
Through Isaiah, we get a grim look at what is about to take place when Jesus does return to claim His throne and remove all evil from the earth. God pleas for all nations to come to Christ before He returns. “Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. For it is the day of the LORD'S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion. And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.†- Isaiah 34:1,8-10.
God always gets the vengeance, and this time, the vengeance will be His own, there will be no escape, all who have not received Jesus Christ as their Savior, alone with the devil himself will be cast into eternal death, a lake of fire, burning forever. “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.†- Revelation 20:10,14,15.
We can fall away from Christ and face some major tribulation by doing so, but in the end, there is always hope for those who are saved. Through Isaiah, we are reminded that all who believe in and receive Him will return. “Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.†- Isaiah 35:3-6,10.
Ransomed, our souls were held ransom by the devil, but Jesus paid the ransom with His life. Now, all who come to Him will be saved and join Him in heaven, and later live in His kingdom forever. “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.†- 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,20.
Today's Prayer: Jesus, Barely a day goes by that I do not think about where I would have been if you had not picked me up and carried me to safety. I was saved, but I was still lost, and You were the only one who could find me and set me free from my sins. When life gets hard, and things look so bleak I forget just what You have brought me through, I am sorry for letting my circumstances control me rather than seek Your refuge. Thank You for loving me and never leaving me, and thank You for having patience with me to I come to my senses and look to You. Lord, lead me and guide me, give me Your power and strength to serve You, let me be a witness to all You put n my heart, and help me to keep my eyes on You and not my circumstances. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.
