Biosphere II

I own another house now. I'm moved in with the furball. They are adjusting. I always find them in the bedroom when I come home. Silky meows all night. They tend to be in the same room I'm in. Like Charissa did.

My dad is home from physical therapy wherever they had him. They think he should go in assisted care and of course he won't and i can't do anything about it.

Beedith and I toured Biosphere 2 20 miles outside tucson. This is an enclosed geodesic dome with 5 biomeme where they had 8 bionauts stay for two years in early 90s. The dome is air tighter then the space shuttle.

To some extent there is no such thing as a failed science experiment. Mankind always learns something. They had too much organic matter in the soil which decayed to CO2. The concrete absorbs CO2 which nobody thought of which removes it from the carbon cycle. They wound up being short of oxygen and pumping some extra O2 in. Pests ate their food and they ended up eating into their reserves. Food they had on hand for an emergency that was not grown in Biosphere2. They've established another point about crew friction when people are cooped up in a small space for long periods of time.

It's an amazing amount of work to grow your own food. Good thing we invented supermarkets and don't have to do that any more.

Oh, Robert. We didn't invent supermarkets. People way older than us did it. My Mother was born in 1921, and she used to talk about the wonderful bread her mother made every week, and about her shock and surprise the first time they went to the corner store and found "Whit bread, pure white, with no texture, sitting sliced on a tray on the counter. And people were buying it!" Then along came the Great Atlantic and Pacific Food Company, (A&P) Nobody has to get stuff off the shelf for you and, as Lord Buckley pointed out in the 60's "You're pushing the mother cart and you're workin' for them, see?" ergo, supermarkets. And we're still working for them. Have you ever found a cart out of place and put it in the cart return place? Working for them!
