Today I went in for my yearly eye exam and was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. That shocked the heck out of me. The last time I went in for an exam I was told my right eye had the beginning stages of glaucoma but that it wasn't anything to worry about. They would simply watch it. The doctor today seemed a little bit stunned that someone my age (40) who is relatively healthy, isn't diabetic, and who doesn't smoke, would have cataracts.
I don't know what to think about all this. I'm a little freaked out and yet I know there are lots of treatments for it.
I'll have to make an appointment with a specialist for more tests and to see what the recommended treatment will be. I have faith in modern medicine but I still plan on doing my homework and learning everything there is to know about cataracts. That's how I am about all things in my life that have to do with my health.
Now Onto The Good News
My nephew and his wife had their baby boy two nights ago. He's the cutest little guy. They named him Colt Jeffrey...isn't that a unique name? My nephew is a big football fan and idolizes a professional player with the same name as his son. Our family has a get-together planned on Easter for them. I intend on stealing him away for some one-on-one. I am one of nine Great Aunts after all!
I'm planning on taking plenty of pictures. Maybe I'll even post a few on here. I have to spread the newborn cuteness around.
