Today's Chapters: Proverbs 27-29
Message Title: Hope For Failed Goals
We all have goals and ambitions in life, but sometimes the circumstances we face can take them away to the point that lose the vision. It is a horrible feeling to reach for something and slowly see it pulling away from you so much that you no longer see it. There are one of two conclusions to losing vision, one, you have lost the will to keep reaching for your goals. Two, God sees where your vision is headed and is trying to give you a new vision. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.†- 1 Corinthians 10:13.
Sometimes life is just not fair, you keep trying and trying to get through a door, but keep hitting a wall, while you see others getting everything they want. Let me tell you something, people of the world, including some Christians, do not care about anyone, all they see are dollar signs and people worshiping them, often portraying themselves as a god. Go to someone who lives in the world and ask them for help when you have nothing and see what you get. Nothing! We need to get our priorities straight if we want to accomplish anything. “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips. Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds. For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation? The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered. The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field. And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.†- Proverbs 27:1,2,23-27.
While we should take pride in our work and feel great about our accomplishments, we must be careful not to be too proud because in the blink of an eye we could lose everything. God wants to give us everything we need and desire, but the truth is He knows we can get too boastful, forgetting that He was the one who made it happen. If we continue that pattern, He will bring us to a point where we see that He was the source, and need Him at all times. Those who refuse to acknowledge God at all may have what they want for a time, but it will not last, and they will not have God to turn to. “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.†- Philippians 4:4-7.
The majority of the time we fail because we are around someone who, to be honest, is the failure, but we need not fear because God is near. “A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food. They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them. Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things. Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich. He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.†- Proverbs 28:3-6,9,10.
Have you ever known someone who appeared to rich and successful, but had less than you? They are usually critical and judgmental about your accomplishments, but do not have much to show for their own? This is an example of a poor man oppressing the poor. The only reason they want you around is because you are the source of what they actually do have. Once you wise up and take it away from them they are quick to run to someone else. One thing I have learned by being someone who has, thank God, been the one being oppressed, they might get you to go astray for a while, but God will bring you back to Him, and they will fall into their own pit.“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not. The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.†- Proverbs 29:18,23-26.
Oh my goodness, how true are the words here? Successes and accomplishments in life happen because we had a vision. When we have no vision we do perish, life has no meaning, you lose the passion and strive you once had, and you just keep going with no ambition. Let me tell you, not one person, not even God, can change a persons situation until they see life in their spirit. Things happen that take visions and life out of people, but we cannot let those things trap us in our own pit. If we want things to change we must make an effort to heal our soul, and that is something that only Jesus can do. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. “†- Matthew 11:28-30.
Today's Prayer: God, You want us to trust You to provide us with everything we need and desire, and with that trust You give us these things, but we do tend to forget that You are our provider. Lord, I need You, I know I am nothing without You, and that everything I have comes from You. Forgive me for forgetting to acknowledge that, for complaining about what I do not have, and being envious of what others do have. Give me Your power, wisdom, and guidance to go where You want me to go. In Jesus' name. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
