Now I am not a deeply religious person and in fact I do struggle with faith every now and again, but working at a Catholic institution, you are bound to find a prayer or talk to a priest. One of the things I have come into contact with that I have found inspirational is our team prayer that is recited before the lacrosse team takes the field. If you read the words and really think about what they say and mean, you might agree with me in thinking that these are words to live by.
Here it is:
Today is the beginning of a new day
God has given us this day to do with as we will
We can waste it, or use it for good
What happens today is important, because we are trading a day of our lives for it.
When tomorrow comes,
Today will be gone forever,
Leaving behind what we have traded.
We want it to be good, not evil; gain, not loss; success, not failure;
In order that we might never forget the price that we paid for it
Because the future is nothing more than a string of todays
Amen
Just thought I would share that with everyone…I think of it as reasons to make every day count.
