So, I've decided that doctor's should never ask how you're doing when they walk into a room. I guess it makes sense for the visits that are just, say, annual check-ups, but for the most part, it's a little awkward! Really, would I be here if I could give a satisfactorily positive answer to that question? No, I would not - I'd be at home doing something productive and, possibly, enjoyable. But they persist in asking this question, and I don't know how to answer. I don't want to be a little Siouxie Stormcloud (bonus points for those of you who get the reference) and say "well, I'm actually in a pretty bad way right now" because that's just a poor way to start the conversation, but if you say "well, I'm swell!" you'll not only lose points for the horrible rhyme, but the doctor will wonder why you're in his office.
Any suggestions?
