The Dog Whisperer

I taped a segment of The Dog Whisperer (my favorite TV show) last week and watched it today. It was Season 4, Episode 28, called "Apollo and Maggie".

The first half of the show was about a young Chicana who rescues animals and lives with her single-mom in East LA. It showed a local PET CO store where the producers of The Dog Whisperer were interviewing prospective subjects for future shows (a kind of "date" with Cesar). Turns out over a thousand people showed up! The Chicana was selected ... yeah. She volunteers at a poor shelter and had bonded with Apollo, an aggressive young Rottweiler who attacked men. The shelter had given up on Apollo and scheduled to put him down, but the day before, out of desperation, the girl managed to get to the PET CO event. It was her last hope. They showed her sobbing to the Producers ... and turns out they selected her ... aha ... Cesar-to-the-rescue. I had my kleenex box by my side. Wow, what a story! And with a happy ending!

So, Cesar took the dog to his Rehab Center and spent several months rehabilitating Apollo. It was a miraculous transformation. In the end Apollo bonded with Cesar's son and is now part of the Milan family. Sigh.

If I had another "shot" at life I'd move to LA, volunteer at Cesar's Dog Rehab Center, and work my way into the production of these shows. Hail Cesar!
