An Unwavering God

KJB Daily Devotion – Following Jesus Through Every Chapter
Date:
Friday, June 24, 2016
Chapters: Psalms 86-89
Message: An
Unwavering God

Hello My Friend,

Waver, to move
one way and the other. You know, quite often, our faith in God
wavers, in the same day we can have complete faith in Him and wonder
why He has left us. You want to know something amazing? God’s faith
in us never wavers, no matter how often we cry or complain that God
is not with us, He loves us the same, and is always faithful to keep
His promises to us. The second we received His Son as our Saviour He
made a covenant with us, to never leave nor forsake us, no matter how
much we waver. You see, there is something incredible about God that
we as humans can never understand, once we are saved God no longer
looks as us through ourselves, but through His Son. That means, no
matter what we do in the flesh, our soul is tucked safe in the arms
of Jesus, and that is unwavering.

We
know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is
begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him
not.
” - I John 5:18.

born
of God sinneth not;
” This does not mean that we never sin
again after we are saved, it does mean that when God looks at us He
sees His Son, therefore we appear to Him as though we never sin.
Salvation does not keep us from the consequences of sin after we are
saved, but it does keep our soul from the consequences of our sin.
When you stop to think about just how unwavering God is you cannot
help, but find yourself praising Him for the things He as, in fact,
got you out of. While we can often be wavering in our faithfulness,
God never is, and we ought to be praising Him every day for that.
David reminds us that God is rich in mercy, but it is wise to walk in
His ways.

Among the
gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any
works like unto thy works. All nations whom thou hast made shall come
and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. For thou
art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone. Teach me
thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy
name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I
will glorify thy name for evermore. For great is thy mercy toward me:
and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell. O God, the
proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have
sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them. But thou, O
Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and
plenteous in mercy and truth
.” - Psalm
86:8-15.

Among the gods there
is none like unto thee,
” gods, we know that there is only
one true and living Supreme being, and we know Him to be Jehovah.
While many times “god” refers to false gods, this is different,
this form of god is referring to, a prince; a ruler; a magistrate
(king), or a judge. David is comparing those of the highest authority
to God and has found that none even come close to God Almighty. Great
is God’s mercy toward us that He has, through His Son, delivered
our soul from the lowest hell. Praise God!

Let
every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power
but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever
therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and
they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”
- Romans 13:1,2.

While our salvation is great in
itself, we have something else awaiting us, a city of God, something
that will only appear after Christ returns and he establishes His
kingdom. Even the people of old knew this was awaiting them, the
place is called Zion, and the psalmist reminds us that none are
forgotten who know Him as their Saviour.

Glorious
things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah. I will make mention
of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and
Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there. And of Zion it shall be
said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself
shall establish her. The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the
people, that this man was born there. Selah.
” - Psalm
87:3-6.

And of Zion it shall
be said,
” Zion is the place in which Jesus will rule on His
throne, what an amazing place that will be. Until Christ returns we
have to endure the life we are given here, and unless He returns real
soon, spend some time in heaven. The great thing is that God never
wavers His protection on a saved soul, while we await His kingdom we
have His protection, whether we leave our bodies and go to heaven or
get raptured out of here, with body intact.

For
God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our
Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep,
we should live together with him.”
- I Thessalonians
5:9,10.

God is unwavering in that he had a plan for us
to be saved from the very start, He knew that sin would come into the
world through one of His very own creations, Lucifer himself, He knew
that our flesh would be wavering, and yet He never changed His plan.
Psalm 89 is an amazing Psalm, as the psalmist reflects on God promise
to David’s seed, an amazing prophecy is revealed of His own Son.

Also I will make him
my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy will I
keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the
days of heaven. If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my
judgments; If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their
iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not
utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. My
covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my
lips.
” - Psalm 89:27-34.

His
seed also will I make to endure for ever,”
While this Psalm
has references about Solomon, it is clear that God is talking about
another seed that would come through David, His Son, the anointed one
(89:20). The second we receive Christ as our Saviour we are born into
the family of God, therefore, we not only become heirs with Christ,
we become part of David’s seed, and will endure forever. There is
something amazing written here, “Nevertheless
my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him,
” God
reminds us that even though we may be chastised for sin, He will
never take our salvation away from us. I can write an entire message
on this chapter alone about the mercy and grace of God, how He loves
us and remains faithful to us no matter how many times we mess up.
God’s unwavering love keeps our soul out of hell, in fact, it is
Jesus who took the rod and stripes that we rightfully should be
getting.

For even
hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving
us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin,
neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled,
reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed
himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our
sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should
live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

- I Peter 2:21-24.

Jesus
Christ
Magnified:
Today, Jesus is shown through the Holy One of Israel who is our King
(89:18). Christ means, the anointed, God sent Him here through the
seed of David, making Him not only royalty of man, but of God also.
Jew or Gentile, all who believe in Him become part of the seed, and
of Israel. “And if ye be Christ's, then
are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

- Galatians 3:29.

Today's Prayer:
God, Thank You for Your unwavering love, promises, protection,
commitment, faithfulness, and faith in Your children, while our faith
can go to and fro, Yours never changes. You never promised that we
will not face and problems or suffering while we are here on earth,
but You do promise that You will never leave nor forsake us, even
when we are wavering. How amazing are you to not only love us
unconditionally when we receive Your Son, but when we waver in our
faith as well. Lord, lead me and guide me, fill me with Your mercy
and grace, strengthen my heart and give me unwavering faith, let me
not be dependent upon my circumstances to keep me faithful, but on
Your precious promises. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
