Today's Chapters: Song of Solomon 1-4
Message Title: True Love

The Book of Song of Solomon is the twenty-second book of the Old Testament/Bible and contains eight chapters. The author of the book is King Solomon and it was written to Israel and all believers. The timeline is approximately 1014 BC. The purpose of the book is to show the intimate relationship between Jesus and the Church as demonstrated by the intimate marriage relationship between a husband and wife. What we are to learn from the book is that the divine model of love between a man and his wife is the pattern for the relationship between Christ (Man) and the Church (His Bride). “My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.” - Song of Solomon 2:16.

The Song of Solomon begins with the brides love for her bridegroom, she cannot wait to enjoy her time with him. “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine. Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee. Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee. While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof. A bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts. My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of Engedi.” - Song of Solomon 1:2-4,12-14.

The love of a husband and wife is quite like the love of Jesus and His bride, there is a sweet savor that gives off something unforgettable. It is something that will last for eternity, but it is only prominent when He does mean more to us than anything else. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” - 1 John 4:18-20.

The lily, pure, and delicate, is a genus of plants of many species, it produces bell-shaped, white flowers with streaks of pink in them. Its beauty and fragrance foreshadow Jesus Christ to His Church. We see here, the special attention made of the lily. “I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys. As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters. As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice. My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.” - Song of Solomon 2:1-4,9-11,16.

Jesus stands at the door of every persons heart, He peaks in the window, knocks on the door, looks around the back in hopes that His love will let Him in. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” - Revelation 3:20-22.

The soul, you cannot see it, feel it, or touch it physically, but you definitely know it is there. A lonely soul is probably the most noticeable and it never rests until it finds it's one true source of happiness. We see here the illustration of a lonely soul seeking her one true love. “By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth? It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.” - Song of Solomon 3:1-4.

This is a great illustration of a lost soul that finds Christ, once it finds Him they become soul mates, Jesus grabs a hold of it and never lets it go. As soul mates with Christ He promises to never leave nor forsake us. When Christ is with us we can boldly say, “I have no fear for my Savior is near!” We need not fear anything with our Savior. “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” - Hebrews 13:5,6.

Today's Prayer: God, You see us in our hour of need. You look beyond our successes, our possessions, and any earthly titles or accomplishments we’ve earned. You understand our thoughts and know the very intent of our hearts. Thank You that we can be reconciled to You and experience forgiveness of sins through the redeeming blood of Your Son. The riches of Your grace far exceeds the abundance of riches this world has to offer. We need not fear tomorrow because You lead us in the way everlasting as show our love toYou. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
