Message: 1 Chronicles: Soar
As An Eagle

Hello My Friend,

“Just
when I think that I am strong, my own weakness proves me wrong, and
then I find I fail my LORD again. But I will just keep pressing on,
even when all hope seems gone, for He has promised that one day I’ll
will win. And I will soar as the eagle, I will rise above it all, I
will soar as the eagle. For He will give me strength, to mount up
with wings before I fall.” These are some verses to a song called,
“I Will Soar”, it reminds me that I belong to Jesus and no matter
how many times I fail Him, He will never let me fall. “My
sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give
unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall
any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is
greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's
hand. I and my Father are one.” - John 10:27-30.

We
must admit it, we all get a little slothful sometimes, and since we
carry around this flesh that always wants to keep busy, it is the
slothful times that we find we can get into the most trouble. Now, we
are not given the details about David getting himself into trouble
when he committed adultery with Bathsheba because he stayed behind
when they were at battle with the Ammonites, but we are given details
about the battle. The Ammonites thought they got off easy after they
humiliated David’s servants when he sent them to comfort the son
after their father died. A year later, David sent his army into Ammon
and it was destroyed. Joab contacts David and tells him to get down
there and finish the job before he took the city and claimed it for
himself.

“And it came to pass,
that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to
battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country
of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David
tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it. And
David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to
weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it
was set upon David's head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil
out of the city. And he brought out the people that were in it, and
cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so
dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David
and all the people returned to Jerusalem.” - 1 Chronicles
20:1-3.

“And David took the crown
of their king from off his head,” Even though God chastens
His people when they sin, He will not allow anyone to mistreat them.
We are His people, and just like any father would discipline his
child, and be the first to defend them if someone comes at them, God
does the same with us. We need to never retaliate on those who wrong
us because God will get the vengeance, sometimes it does not happen
right away, but no one messes with His people. “Say
to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold,
your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he
will come and save you.” - Isaiah 35:4.

David was
probably one of the most godliest leaders of all nations, even today,
but as strong as his faith in God, he was human too, he failed God
just as much as the rest of us do. Quite often, the culprit behind
our failed missions is the devil, he uses all sorts of things to get
us to disobey God, even if it is something that seems like it is not
disobedience. Since we are all born with a sin nature, sooner or
later the devil can get the best of us, and once again, he got to
David. The devil provoked him to number the people, and as a result
God sent a pestilence upon Israel for three days. Seventy thousand
people lost their lives and more would have if David did not go to
God and plea with Him not to take anymore lives for his bad decision.
He was instructed to build an altar.

“Then
the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David
should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor
of Ornan the Jebusite. And David went up at the saying of Gad, which
he spake in the name of the LORD. Then David said to Ornan, Grant me
the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein
unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the
plague may be stayed from the people. And Ornan said unto David, Take
it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his
eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the
threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering;
I give it all. And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily
buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine
for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost. So David gave
to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. And
David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings
and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him
from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.” - 1
Chronicles 21:18-26.

“but I will
verily buy it for the full price:” You know, as much as we
fail God, we will soar because we were bought with a price, and we
belong to Jesus. Jesus bought our souls with His life, He she His
blood and became the sacrifice needed for God to pull back His wrath
on those who believe in Him. Now, we may get knocked down a few
times, but His blood is upon us forever, and we need to never fear
losing our salvation because Jesus bought it for the full price. “For
he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's
freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's
servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with
God.” - 1 Corinthians 7:22-24.

Now, after that
terrible judgment inflicted on Israel and God accepting David's
confession and sacrifice, God pointed out the place where he would
have the temple built. David was excited to make all the
preparations, he gathered people and supplies that would be needed,
which Solomon would be well known for having built. After he gathers
everything, including the instructions on who was going to do what,
he calls for Solomon.

“And David
said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an
house unto the name of the LORD my God: But the word of the LORD came
to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great
wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast
shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. Behold, a son shall be
born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest
from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and
I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. He shall
build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his
father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel
for ever. Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and
build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee. Only
the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge
concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes
and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be
strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.” -
1 Chronicles 22:7-13.

“if thou
takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD
charged Moses with concerning Israel:” You see, we prosper
when we obey God. Solomon would later find out that God means
business, no matter who He makes a promise to as he got so wrapped up
in women that he turned to their gods also. Being saved does not mean
we will not suffer for sin, suffering always comes with sin, and we
will be chastened. However, since we are saved that means God never
turns back on His promise to never leave nor forsake us. He will give
us the strength to soar as eagles, the wings to keep from falling too
far. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall
renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they
shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
- Isaiah 40:31.

Jesus Christ
Revealed: Today, Jesus is revealed as the Angel of the
Lord, who will place judgment on all who do not come to Him. And
also, through the altar that David bought. “For
ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and
in your spirit, which are God's.” - 1 Corinthians
6:20.

Today's Prayer:
God, Thank You for Your mercy, no matter what I do, You will never
leave nor forsake me. Lord, I do want everything I do to be build
upon Jesus, I do not want my heart to become slothful, help me to
keep my heart, soul, and eyes upon You so that everything I do is for
Your glory. I know I will fail You sometimes, but You will give me
the strength to get back up and soar. In Jesus' name. Amen.
