Covenant with God

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today is Saturday May 23, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of II Chronicles. Please read chapters 4-6 in your Bible or Click Here to read them.

Today's Message: Covenant With God
When a covenant is made with God, both parties agree to keep the terms, but God alone makes the terms. Some people want God to keep His promises, but do not want to keep their promises to Him.

King Solomon finally completed the Temple as his father David directed before he died. "Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the LORD was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God." (II Chronicles 5:1).

Then, all the Israelites gathered around Solomon as he stood before the altar and prayed the longest prayer recorded in Scripture. "For Solomon had made a brasen scaffold of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven. And said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts: Thou which hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him; and spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day. Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed to their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me." (II Chronicles 6:13-16). Solomon recognized that, without the presence of God, this magnificent Temple would be a worthless structure.

The same is true today, no matter how beautiful a church is without the presence of God, it too is worthless. The presence of God actually dwells in those who truly worship Him, in the form of the Holy Spirit, for we (Christ followers) are the Temple of God. "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man." (I Corinthians 2:12-15). If a man of God does not have the presence of God in him than nothing he says to his congregation will have merit. It is important when choosing a church that the leader be one that has truly placed God at the center of His life.

Today's Psalm: 40:3
"And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD."

Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
We are thankful for Your great compassion and enduring patience; that You do not treat us as our sins deserve but with Your never-ending mercy. From everlasting to everlasting Your love is with those who walk with You, who keep Your covenant and obey Your precepts.
In Jesus' Name...........Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed night/day.
God Bless you,
Christina
