Bible Study: Saved by the Blood

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today is Wednesday January 21, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus.

Today's Message: Saved By The Blood.
We are all sinners by nature regardless of how good we try to be, unfortunately the consequencefor sin is death and the one and only way to be saved from death is by the shed of pure blood. Before Jesus we had to constantly sacrifice an animal, but thanks to His blood shed we no longer have to worry about that.

Today's Bible Reading: Exodus Chapters 11-13
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if it does not work you can copy and paste this one into your browser: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus%2011-13&version=9

With each miraculous plague, God proved that Egypt's gods were false deities and that He was the One True God who controlsall creation. The final plague of judgment was death. "And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether...............And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more. But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel." (Exodus 11:1,5-7). The Egyptians and the Israeliteswere both sinners by nature so the death sentence was passed upon all the first born throughout the land.

However, God lovingly provided a way for all of the Israelites who were obedient to Him to save their firstborn from death. "Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:..............And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.................And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt." (12:3,7,11-13). This became what is known as the Lord's Passover. God provided a way of deliverance for the Israelites because of His covenant with Abraham, but it was surely not by works of the righteousness they had none. The sentence of death must be executed, but for all who believed in the One True God, a substitute was offered.

The Lord's Passover included a day of atonement which was a way for the Isrealites to atone for their sins, meaningthis was a way to hide all their sins from God's sight. There were numerous daily, weekly, and monthly sin offerings, but the Israelites were still required to observe a full Day of Atonement annually. However, they were only substitute offerings until Jesus became the one True Sacrifice and died for the sins of the world. Since God is holy, He cannot fellowship with man in his sinful state so God has provided His sinless Son as the perfect and complete substitute to die for our sins so we can fellowship with Him as if we are sinless before His eyes. "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance." (Hebrews 9:12-15).

Today's Psalm: 116:16-18
"O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people."

Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
Without the shed blood of Your Son, Jesus, we are weighed down by the shackles of sin.It spreads as a disease from our hearts to our minds separating us from our Creator and making us a bond slave to Satan.Thank You for sending Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God, who by His intense love and sacrificial death, freed us from the sin that ensnared us.He turned our mourning into dancing as He lifted our condemnation and replaced it with eternal hope.In Jesus' name..........Amen.

Have a wonderful day/night and be blessed.

God Bless you,
Christie
