Today we will read about the sun-clad woman; the dragon, a baby boy; the blood of the Lamb; and the beasts. Today's message focuses on the importance of knowing that the devil is always around causing trouble in order to get us to walk away from God. We must daily ask for the Power of God to keep us shielded from his wrath.
John saw visions of wonder in heaven. "And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. " (Revelation 12:1-5). These visions are reference to the birth and ascension of Jesus Christ.
The trial of the remnant of God occurs in the wilderness, "And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." (12:6-9). The wilderness illustrates the desert-like moral condition ruled by the devil.
Satan has been given four designations, the dragon which portrays his monstrous character, the serpent which points out his deceptiveness, the devil who reminds us that he is a slanderer and liar, and Satan which means adverary. Satan, is in opposition to the faithful people of God and is always seeking to destroy the likeness of Christ and His Word wherever it exists.
However, neither God nor His servants will ever be defeated. "And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." (12:10-12).
Satan has a short time to live and that is why he causes so much destruction, but we can rejoice knowing that we are filled with the Power of God, through Jesus Christ.
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
We earnestly seek You for wisdom regarding the daily circumstances of our lives. Help us to incline our hearts toward You for understanding all that You have to teach us in the lessons of life. During the quiet sessions when Your voice seems silent help us to trust You knowing that You work all things out for our good, for Your glory, and in Your time reference. In Jesus' name.......Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day and weekend.
God Bless You,
Christina
