Bible Study: Be Washed

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today is Saturday February 21, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Chapters 19-20 in your Bible. Today's Message: Be Washed
It is very important that we daily be washed from the things that defile our bodies.

The law of the red heifer was introduced following the death of the 14,700 Israelites after they followed Korah. " And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke: And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face: And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times: And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn: And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer." (Numbers 19:1-6). The red heifer sacrifice was instituted in the wilderness of Paran at a time when all Israel was under the sentence of death. The blood of the red heifer was burned with the carcass, and then its ashes were mixed with running water and sprinkled upon the defiled ones in order to restore them to the holy God.

Through the red heifer ordinance, God gave a new revelation of the importance of cleansing from defilement. Whether it be through our thoughts, our conversations, the books we read, our associations with unbelievers, or whatever it may be that we may do that defiles our minds or bodies it is of uttermost importance that we cleanse ourselves from them. The red heifer sacrifice is symbolic of Jesus Christ who cleanses all from sin. Today, all we have to do to be washed clean from our sins is to drink the living water. "Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:13-14).

To drink the daily water we read His Word, "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." (Ephesians 5:26-27). Of course we also need to call on Him for repentance, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9).

Today's Psalm: 51:1-3
"Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me."

Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
I am full of gratitude today as I consider Your abiding presence in my life. You planned my existence in my mother's womb before I even drew my first breath. When so many people have come into my life and exited it throughout the years You have taken up residence and You forever rule my heart. When the path before me was unclear You have always gone before me sustaining me in my wilderness journey. Though all forsake me You remain faithful, and remarkable as it seems, even if we are faithless, You will remain faithful, for You cannot deny Yourself. Thank You for being my Savior. In Jesus' name..........Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
God Bless,
Christina
