Today we will read about spiritual gifts; the resurrection of Christ; and a collection for the Jerusalem saints. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we need to daily remove ourselves from any corruption that we have encoutered throughout the day.
Paul reminds us of the triumphant fact that Christ died for our sins, was buried, then rose three days later. "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). For the Christian, death is not the end of life, but only the beginning of a magnificent, eternal future with our wonderful Lord.
To the Christian, who out of necessity, must spend much of his time with people of the world Paul warns us not to be decieved and fall into their standards. "Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." (15:33-34). The influences of worldly associations and the temptations that follow can gradually bring a believer to live in the world rather than for God. The most important thing you can do for yourself is each night pray to God and ask Him to reveal any corruptedness that you might have encountered throughout the day.
Some Christians today get so entangled with what the world has to offer that they never realize that they completely passed over the teachings of the New Testament way of living. People are learning from others, who do not live godly, what it means to be a Christian rather than learning the truth by reading the Bible. There is so much compromise everywhere, but Scripture leaves no room for compromise. Paul concluded his glorious thoughts on the return of the Lord Jesus, "The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." (15:56-58).
Christians can have the utmost confidence knowing that Christ lives in us. Our threefold purpose for living is:
1: To become the person that God planned for us to be.
2: That we may accomplish His will for us on earth.
3: To be prepared for the triumphant splendor of heaven that awaits us.
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
You gave first and foremost as you selflessly gave of Yourself through the person of Jesus Christ. Your gift of grace exceeds human description, for the far-reaching effects in our lives is truly indescribable. It’s too wonderful for words, but it brings unspeakable joy and glorious hope that makes our spiritual journey so worthwhile. We receive Your indescribable gift that brings forgiveness for our sins and reserves for us a home in heaven for all eternity. In Jesus' name.......Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God bless you,
Christina
