Bible Study: Learn God's Commands
Hello My Friend/Guest,
Today is Saturday January 31, 2009 and we are completing our studies on the book of Exodus.
Today's Message: Learn God's Commands
It's not easy to be a Christian, one will face much criticism and rejection, even from those who claim to be Christian's. However, we can not let that stop us from learning and doing what God commands. It truly is the best life we can ever live.
Today's Bible Reading: Exodus Chapter 40
You can read the chapter by clicking on the link above, if it does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus%2040&version=9
It took nine months to build the Tabernacle, Moses did exactly as the Lord commanded. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.............Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he." (Exodus 40:1-2,16). The phrase "did all that the Lord commanded" emphasizes the supreme importance of being in obedience to the will of God. Moses' obedience was complete in every detail for making every item, including the tent, altars, vessels, Brass Laver, garments, pins, sockets, loops, posts, and furniture.
The first thing to be placed within the Tabernacle was the Ark of the Testimony which contained the stone tablets written with the Ten Commandments of God. "And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail. And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof. And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle." (40:3-5).
After the Tabernacle was constructed, the cloud of the Lord's presence and the Tabernacle were inseparable throughout the Israelites journeys. "Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys: But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys." (40:35-38). If the cloud lifted and moved forward, the Tabernacle and the people then followed; if the cloud stopped, the people remained until it moved again.
God's Word and His Holy Spirit provide all of the wisdom, spiritual guidance, and strength necessary to live for Him. It is of great importance that we, like Moses, do all that the LORD commanded and in order to know what His commands are we must get into reading His Word daily. Do not worry about trying to read and know the entire Bible, God knows that we would never be able to comprehend everything all at once. One can never read a chapter in the Bible and think the same exact thing about it because He reveals what He wants us to learn each time we read it. That is why it is also important to meditate on His Word and read through the Old and New Testaments over and over again.
The Bible teaches us to deny ungodliness and to look for the glorious appearing of the Lord, "Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:12-14). No matter who tries to criticize us or make us fall away from the True Word of God Jesus is with us and will redeem us, just keep living righteously and we will prevail.
Today's Psalm: 32:5-7
"I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
We are confronted with deception on many fronts every day, so much so, that we can be deceived without even realizing it. Would You help us to watch out and be on our guard so that we are not deceived by man’s words, no matter how convincing they are, how charming their personality, or how cunning their craft. Help us not to fall for Satan’s deceptive tactics that have brought down believers throughout the church age. We seek You for strength and discipline. We search the Scriptures for discernment and the true revelation of who Jesus is; the Son of the Living God. In Jesus' name............Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and weekend.
God Bless,
Christina
